Hello Wonder Women!
Did you know March 8th is International Women’s Day & the month of March is Women’s History Month! Well it is and I think we need to know about it.
The first International Women’s Day was celebrated in 1911. International Women's Day celebrates the social, political and economic achievements of women while focusing world attention on areas requiring further action. The theme of the 2014 International Women’s Day is “Inspiring Change” and encourages advocacy for women's advancement everywhere in every way. It calls for challenging the status quo for women's equality and vigilance inspiring positive change. National Women's History month originated in 1981.
Our research on the "Turning Points in a Woman's Path to Leadership" pointed to strong organizational support as a key factor in women gaining leadership positions. Is your organization supportive of women leaders? Do you do anything to support and honor Women's History Month?
To celebrate I made a yummy plate of sticky buns to share with my all women work team and made them all a special folder featuring the quotes: "Women are always at the front of revolutions." - Buthayna Kamel & "Well behaved women seldom make history." -Laurel Thatcher Ulrich. The folders will be a reminder of the great leadership and work women do to make our communities a better place.
